Eddy Current Suppression Ring
Another great Melbourne band about town is: PRETTY GREEN, who are sounding kinda like Billy Childish if he hadn't had a shag in 3 months. Very primitive and gritty (kinda like an Billy Childish's bathtub after his Aussie tour). Check out their spot on "My Space" and hear their classic "Little Girl" www.myspace.com/prettygreenband

KELLEY STOLTZ Aus tour CD
Yes Kelley was undoubtedly the smash hit tour of 2005and this is his superb tour CD which featurs his hit single "underwtaer is where the Action is" that you can hear everyday on JJJ as well as 8 other exclusive tracks.......it's totally brilliant with influences including everything from Beefheart to Thirteenth Floor Elevators to Nick Drake........and guess what it retails for a measly $10.Whao Dad!
MATT EDDY Egg CD
Perfect crystalline pop tunes from Matt Eddy (local boy) who used to play bass in the much beloved Huxton Creepers......why is it that whenever bass players start their own bands they always turn out to be the best bands ever (like Shutdown 66!!). real catchy pop with Paul Thomas from the Huxtons helping out with some guitar and drum work.
THE STABS Wading b/w That's It 7"
Their live shows have already created a huge buzz around this band so now it's time for the debut release for Melbourne's newest noise rock 3 piece... THE STABS! Swampy and pulsating this record is choc full of grating
feedback, crunching distortion and big swaggering arrogance. Think The Scientists jamming with The Dream Syndicate aboard an out of control school bus.
THE T BONES Seventeen (best of) CD
Well you know I love this band.originally from Robinvale, near Mildura they are Australia's answers to Green on Red (high praise indeed!) incredibely good lyrics and stories back with impeccable country twang.....the only truly australian band that I know...and not in some terrible John Williamson type way....these guys are the real deal with impeccable Ray Daviesesque phrasing from lead singer Pip.........finally they've put together a best of from all their various albums and EP's. It's downright un-Australian not to own this CD
DAS BUTCHER All In Blood/Mummy 7"
Imagine a man with a moustache, dressed like a butcher and drenched in blood, singing into a treated lapel microphone shoved deep into his mouth, accompanied by a boy in an army helmet, both playing tiny keyboards that sound like aramageddon and then some. Layer upon layer upon layer of keyboard drone, toy pianos and screams - and you think Phil Spector knew about wall of sound. As disturbing as it is beautiful. Features a front cover that has to be seen to be believed.
THE PAYBACKS Knock Loud LP/CD
Last chance before these rockers fronted by one tough chick get igned to a major and we flog these off on e bay for heaps...their killer debut LP on blue vinyl LP or CD.......as heard on JJJ
KING KAHN and his SHRINES "Three hairs and your mine" CD
If James Brown wasn't in jail (I can'tkeep track is he in or out at the moment) and if he was 20 years old and had a wild rockin band with sax, piano, brass section and guitars then he would sound like this....authentic but wild R'n'B sould from King Kahn who I saw play in Spain and he is like a young JB.....he's a crazy black dude and he howls and moans and MAN can he dance....e slayed em in the aisles.. Produced by Liam Watson at the legendary Toe Rag (think White Stripes) studios......KILLER STUFF
THE KELPIES CD
Classic reissue for this notorious Sydney heavy/melodic punk rock n roll band circa 1980-1982, tracks are from 3 separate recording sessions from 1981 and 1982, tracks 1-13 were recorded onto cassette in the bands rehearsal space underneath 51 staley st East Sydney in 81, tracks 14 - 21 recorded to 8 track Now Studios, Sydney 1981, tracks 22 23 & 24 were from a 24 track session in 82 for a Phantom records single. The playing on the cassette recorded tracks is very tight and deadly, this was the early set the band played as the fans destroyed the venues all over Sydney. The 'Now Studios' stuff (recorded on a sunday afternoon) lacks some of the intensity of the cassette versions on some tracks, but nonetheless includes the only recording of My Wall and a cool versions of Change and Underway. The tracks recorded for Phantom have a lush sound maybe not quite suited for the band but musically and arrangement wise the band really cranked it up here. Drugs and Ego oblitherated the band into a million pieces, their candle burned real bright and real fast, members went onto tons of other bands in Sydney, 2003 saw them play a gig with the original line up.
